In the introduction, information was provided about the identity of the Kazan Tatars, the sources of the Tatar mythology and a literature review on the subject was conducted. In the literature review section, studies on the types of Tatar folk literature such as fairy tales, myths, legends, riddles, proverbs and idioms, literary works in Tatar cultural history, and studies that collected beliefs and practices in Tatar daily life about spells and fortune-telling were examined and mythological elements in the literature were identified. These identified elements were evaluated in conjunction with the general Turkish mythology. Occasionally, current academic studies on Tatar mythology were also used during these evaluations.
