Application of urban transformation: Kırşehir Bağbaşı example

The problem of housing in our country is also a social problem as in the rest of the world. This problem arises from a number of factors such as population growth, irregular urbanization, migration, natural disasters, income injustice, and the need for urban transformation. Because of these factors, housing problem becomes one of the problems that politicians should solve. As in most countries, in our country housing problem has been tried to be solved with mass housing production in the context of urban transformation. Following the urban transformation, the perceptions of the people residing in the housing estate become more important in order to find out the outcomes of urban transformation. In this context, perception of people and families who moved to their new homes, about the factors such as infrastructure, security and transportation issues and the environment, is of great importance in order to compare the old and new situation to reveal the benefits or difficulties of housing investment. The purpose of this research is to examine the satisfaction levels of residents in the urban transformation of Kırşehir Bağbaşı. In accordance with this purpose, a research was carried out with the participation of individuals residing in the this region. The data of this mixed method research were collected by using questionnaire. As a result of the research, it was determined that the housing, living environment and general satisfaction levels of the individuals increased with the urban transformation. However, poor housing quality, lack of social equipment, lack of shopping spaces, inadequate cleaning, lack of landscaping, lack of green spaces and high dues were identified as the main problem areas that need improvement within the scope of urban transformation. In this context, in order to increase the satisfaction regarding the urban transformation practices in the following period, active participation and encouragement of the residents in the process and taking measures to increase the quality of housing and social facilities have been proposed.
