Abstract (EN)

Ensuring user participation in the design process plays an important role in increasing the quality and performance of urban spaces (Önder and Aklanoğlu, 2002). On the other hand, empathic design can contribute to the process of providing user participation positively. Accordingly, it can be said that empathic design increases the quality of urban space and affects user preferences positively. There are not enough studies on the empathic design approach in urban design discipline, although it is especially common in product design. In fact, all urban designers and landscape architects should design empathetically. In other words, all designers should design by putting themselves in the user's shoes. However, there are not enough studies on this subject. One of the studies is Duarte and Pinheir's spatial empathy analysis of Rio de Janiero in 2016, and the other is; Sandman, Levanen, and Savela's work in 2018 used empathic design as a tool for urban sustainability in low-resource environments. Since there has not been a study in this field in our country yet, the study will be a first in this sense and will fill the gap caused by the lack of sufficient resources.
