Abstract (EN)
After the first settlement of the mankind to urban grains then gradually some of them changed and evolved to new urban configurations which are called cities. This gradual change takes place by typological and morphological processes. The city embraces many ingredients and it has a dynamic structure. That's why, today this change takes place rather rapidly. The city and its morphology and typology are closely related to each other and a change in one of its ingredients also changes the city. Recently, the universities are the main causes of the rapid changes that take place in our cities. Universities change the social, cultural and the communal life and as a result of these the architectural typology and rural morphology of the cities also change. By the increase in the student population, city expands and some new dwelling morphologies evolve. In this thesis the morphological and typo-morphological changes of Eskişehir, Bursa and Kütahya are examined which are cities hosting universities. In order to make comprehensive and well defined field investigations; the hypothesis, the goal, and the boundaries of the study are laid down in the first part of the thesis. Then, the conceptual frame work is established and some back ground knowledge related to morphological analysis and cities are given as research tools. The morphological and typological changes of the cities are presented and also the changes of the cities hosting universities are presented by using the published documents. In the fourth part the thesis for the selected neighborhoods of the cities which are under investigation are analyzed and the changes are compared. In the final part of the thesis it is concluded that the cities hosting universities will be faced with morphological and typological changes.
