Abstract (EN)

Cities, which coexist with the physical and natural environment, are going through a painful change process with changing needs and technological interventions in our world. With urbanization, social and cultural benefits arise for people, and on the other hand, the necessity of living in an artificial and unhealthy environment occurs. With the high urbanization rate in our country in recent years, healthy ecological balances have started to disappear completely. Considering the economic and social problems, green space losses occur with inadequate environmental policies and the disruption of unsustainable construction and ecological protection studies. At this point, it should be remembered that sustainable cities will only be possible with sustainable green space planning approaches. To improve the quality of urban life significantly, creating green spaces throughout the city is very important to ensure sustainability. The aim of this thesis, which was prepared in light of all this information, is to analyze urban greenways and their role in sustainable urban landscape. In this context, it is evaluated whether the sustainability of healthy natural life, local landscape diversity, and biodiversity are ensured in a case from Tuzla, Istanbul, which was selected for the field study. It was mentioned whether the areas and materials used during the designs were sufficient for sustainability, and the maintenance of the sites was examined. When the scope of the studies in the literature is evaluated, the prepared study will significantly benefit the field literature.
