Static and dynamic investigation of shear deficient reinforced concrete beams strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymer strips

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effect of strengthening shear deficient reinforced concrete beams with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips on the behavior and dynamic properties were experimentally investigated. For this purpose, six reinforced concrete beams were tested, as two reference members and four members strengthened with CFRP strips. Then, the study was carried out in two stages as quasi-static loading and dynamic measurement. For strengthened beams, the spacing between CFRP strips was used as 50 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm and 200 mm. The results of the study were investigated in terms of the spacing between CFRP strips and the loading stages on the behavior and dynamic properties of the beams. The test results showed that strengthening with CFRP contributed to the shear capacity and ductile behavior and, as the spacing between the strips decreased the frequency change rate decreased.
