Prognostic importance of CD163, CD68, C-met, BCL-2 and NFKB expressions in classical hodgkin lymphoma patients

PROGNOSTIC IMPORTANCE OF CD163, CD68, C-MET, BCL-2 AND NFkB EXPRESSIONS IN CLASSICAL HODGKIN LYMPHOMA PATIENTS PREAMBLE - PURPOSE The purpose of this study is researching effects of CD163, CD68, c-Met, bcl-2 and NFkB RelA expressions on prognosis in lymph node samples from Classical Hodgkin lymphoma patients. METHOD:41 Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) patients and 16 control patients, 57 persons in total were included in this study which was conducted in Aydın Adnan Menderes University Internal Medicine Hematology Clinic. In the study patient data were obtained from files retrospectively. Sections which have highest concentration of CD 30 were chosen for immuno - histo - chemical staining. Smearing was carried out in light microscope by a pathologist who was uninformed about clinical information. Research data were analyzed by using SPSS 18.0 statistics package program. Chi - square test, Fisher exact test, Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Vallis test were used in analyses. Values which their type - 1 error level (alfa) are less than 0,05 were considered as statistically significant for statistical significance. A written permission was obtained from Aydın Adnan Menderes University Non - Invasive Clinical Studies Ethics Committee for the study. FINDINGS: The average age of the patients who were included in the study were 48 and 68,3 % of them were male. 30,0 % of HL patients were found lymphocyte - rich type, 45 % of HL patients were found mixed - cell type, 20 % of HL patients were found nodular sclerosant type and 5 % of HL patients were found devoid of lymphocyte.59,5 of patients fully responded to KT. 39 % of Hodgkin group were stained weak, 4,9 % of Hodgkin group were stained strong, 61 % of Hodgkin group were stained weak with CD and 17,1 % of Hodgkin group were stained strong with CD. 39 % of patients were stained weak with Cmet, 29,3 % of patients were stained weak with BCL - 2 and 22 % of patients were stained weak with Nfkb. No difference was found in terms of statistics between staining properties of patient group and control group. Also no significant difference was found in terms of statistics between lengths of life and CD163, CD 68, CMET, BCL2 and NFKB staining result. In spite of there is no significant statistical difference, it was found that average length of life of weakly stained patients was longer than average length of life of non - stained patients. CONCLUSION: Age and gender distributions of patients were found in concordance with literature in the study. No difference was found in terms of staining properties between patient and control groups. Also no difference was found between staining properties and length of life of patients. However, it is better to construe the results of the study temperately and there is a need for further studies evaluating length of life and staining properties.
