Research and evaluation of Kinalizade's work named Haşiye Ale'd-Dürer Ve'l-gurer

This study is fundamentally composed of two primary sections: investigation and examination. In the investigation part of the study, the critical analysis of the commentary written by Kinalizade Ali Efendi (d. 979/1572) on the work named al-Durar by the Ottoman scholar Molla Husrev (d. 885/1480) has been conducted. The aim is to introduce this yet-to-be-investigated work to the literature and provide essential introductory information about the piece. In the investigation, the work has been obtained in all its copies, and a meticulous comparison has been made based on three high-quality copies, thus attempting to determine the most accurate text. To contribute to a better understanding of the text, necessary details about lesser-known individuals, places, and concepts have been provided from relevant sources. Additionally, by referring to the works quoted or referenced by the author, these details have been confirmed, and the volume and page numbers of these works have been indicated in the footnotes. Furthermore, for the purpose of facilitating easier analysis of the work, a bibliography, table of contents, and index sections have been created. The second part of the study, which is the examination/commentary section, begins by providing information about the lives, scholarly personalities, and mentors of Molla Husrev and Kinalizade from biographical and translation sources. One of the distinctive aspects of the examination section is the determination of Kinalizade's stance in relation to Molla Husrev. In fact, Kinalizade confirms and supports Molla Husrev in many contexts and subjects, expressing favorable statements about him. Similarly, in numerous matters and issues, it can be observed that Kinalizade criticizes Molla Husrev and presents arguments against him. In this regard, Kinalizade's commentary aims not only to follow and adhere, but also to be a critical commentary that emphasizes scholarly concerns. Additionally, Kinalizade brings attention to unaddressed problems and deficiencies, raises overlooked issues, strengthens weak evidence and justifications, advances the text as a whole by partially altering both the arrangement of matters and issues to better suit the needs. Finally, technical details about the copies of the work and information related to the work are presented in the examination section.
