Applicability of corporate governance in SMes Adıyaman and Gaziantep district application

Corporate governance is important and vital for big businesses as well as small and medium sized enterprises (SME). Executives can find low-cost resources by using fairness, transparency, accountability and responsibility principles in their companies and can grow rapidly in the sector in accordance with the cost advantage in hand. The biggest drawback of the SMEs is that they cannot use these advantages because they are mostly built up as Family Corporation. The businesses in our country are mostly made up off SMEs. Since the current structure of the SMEs are not suitable in terms of corporate governance and the idea that the principles of corporate governance are hard to be used by SMEs, constitutes the main problem of the research. This work is themed as "Applicability of corporate governance in SMEs. Adıyaman and Gaziantep district application" and consist of two parts. In the first part of the work, where theoretic framework appears, general information about corporate governance principles and the importance of corporate governance, definition of SMEs, their characteristics and importance are given; and then explanatory information about basic problems of the SMEs face during institutionalization took place. In the second part of the study statistical findings and their analyses related with the investigation of the corporate governance levels of the SMEs in Adıyaman and Gaziantep provinces took place. In the lights of the findings, opinions and suggestions are given for the basic problems of the SMEs while applying corporate governance principles and how they can overcome these problems.
