The effect of digitalization of SME's on organizational agility

The issue of digitalization is an important issue for both large institutions and SMEs in order to survive. It is also associated with organizational agility, which is the ability of organizations to predict external changes and respond quickly to them. In intense competitive environments, it is not possible to realize digitalization, which has a great contribution to overcoming the difficulties that organizations may face, with a single criterion. For this reason, many antecedents are needed for the digitalization of SMEs. Despite this great importance of SMEs in the economy, there is a research gap regarding the digitalization of SMEs, the antecedents of digitalization and their relationship with organizational agility. In order to eliminate this information gap, in this study, it was aimed to investigate the impact of information technologies, employee skills and digital strategy on digitalization, which are the three main sources of SME, on the firstly. Secondly, it is aimed to investigate the relationship of digitalization with organizational agility, and then whether digitalization is mediated in the relationship of SME resources with organizational agility. The survey results of 211 SMEs in Istanbul showed that three SME resources have a positive relationship with digitalization and organizational agility. It is also concluded that digitalization mediates organizational agility with these resources.
