Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the site-specific seismic behavior of cohesionless soils in the Kahramanmaraş region was comprehensively investigated. The study evaluated ground amplification, site response, and liquefaction potential through three different soil models: a single-layer medium-dense sand, a multilayered sandy profile, and a sand model incorporating the effect of groundwater. Soil parameters were determined using empirically established correlations from the literature. Earthquake records compatible with the site-specific design spectrum obtained from AFAD were selected from the PEER database. The processed records were analyzed using DeepSoil for one-dimensional (1D) site response and Plaxis for both 1D and two-dimensional (2D) dynamic simulations. The results revealed that sandy soils in the Kahramanmaraş region exhibit significant ground amplification and that the rise in groundwater level substantially increases the liquefaction potential. The findings provide a scientific basis for future microzonation, soil improvement, and seismic safety studies in earthquake-prone areas of the region.
