Abstract (EN)

As in the case of material damages in space, aviation and automotive industry, especially in minor damages, repairing is applied instead of replacing all material due to many reasons such as cost, labour and time. One of the repair methods we will apply to the damaged piece of material is double sided bounding using composite material. In this study, the behaviours of double sided lap joints of AA-5083 plates with elliptical holes under bending loads were numerically calculated. Fiberglass reinforced composite material was used as the lap joint. Connections were carried out using DP460 adhesive material. The finite analysis program ANSYS 14.5 was used for numerical analyses. In these analyses, the effect of lap length (H), ellipse large radius (R), ellipse small radius (r) changes on bending behaviour was investigated. Damage loads were found for each sample. The stress distributions of σx, σy , σz, σeqv , τxy , τyz, τxz were investigated and shown in graphics. When patched and unpatched samples were compared, it was found out that patched samples could carry more loads. As the patch length increased, strength of the samples also increased due to the increase in the adhesion surface.
