Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, it is aimed to provide information on greenhouse gas emissions associated with coal consumption and to develop simple models for estimating related emissions by trend analysis. Since they consist of the fastest-growing and most dynamic energy consumers and have also the heaviest emitters of greenhouse gas emissions, the study adopts Brazil, the Russian Federation, India, China, South Africa and Turkey as cases. The confirmation and forecasting accuracies of the derived models are also statistically determined by various tests. Moreover, the future greenhouse gas emissions associated with coal consumption are estimated from 2025 to 2035 by the derived/proposed models in the related countries. The results show that the countries included in the study will be in a position to direct the world economy in the near future due to their significant superiorities. Statistical validation and performance measurements' results of the derived/proposed models reveal that the models can be used effectively in the estimation of greenhouse gas emissions associated with coal consumption. Finally, the projected outcomes determine that the total greenhouse gas emissions associated with coal consumption in the related countries and world would increase to 14 and 19 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalents with the annual increases of 2.39% and 1.71% respectively by 2035.
