Abstract (EN)

Usability of waste motor oils in the cleaning of coal by oil agglomeration method was investigated. Müzret (Yusufeli-Artvin) coal was agglomerated by waste motor oil. The effects of some parameters including coal content, waste motor oil content, agglomeration time, coal particle size, agitation rate, pH of the pulp, washing water amount, and size of agglomerate recovery screen, on agglomeration performance were investigated. In addition, the effect of waste motor oil and original motor oil on agglomeration process was compared.Although, maximum ash and pyritic sulphur removals realized as 41.35 % and 36.27 % respectively, when ash separation efficiency was taken into account, most successful result was obtained in the test in which 27.62 % of ash and 16.40 % of pyritic sulphur were removed from the coal by 99.65 % organic matter recovery. It was found that most effective parameters were coal content and oil content. Waste motor oil produced higher recoveries and lower ash and pyritic sulphur removals when compared to original motor oil.
