Abstract (EN)

This research aims to examine the phenomenon of violence in TOKİ container living spaces established in Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman province after the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş that occurred on February 6, 2023, with its social, economic, psychological and spatial dimensions. Within the scope of the research, a semi-structured interview technique based on a qualitative research design was used and the data obtained from a total of 20 participants were evaluated with thematic analysis method. In the study, it was observed that violence occurs not only at the physical level but also in structural and symbolic forms. The findings show that factors such as economic deprivation, unemployment and financial difficulties increase family conflicts; while narrow living spaces, lack of privacy and infrastructure problems trigger tensions between individuals. In addition, it was understood that the temporary and uncertain nature of container life creates intense feelings of anxiety and insecurity in individuals; this situation feeds psychological violence forms. The majority of the participants emphasized the inadequacy of official security forces and stated that this situation poses a risk especially for children and women. It was determined that cultural diversity is not a direct source of violence, but lifestyle differences can sometimes cause social conflicts. The research provides important data for social service planning and disaster management policies by making visible the multi- layered dynamics of violence that emerge in temporary living spaces after disasters. Keywords: Psychosocial impact; Economic deprivation; Temporary housing; Anxiety and insecurity; Post disaster social issues; Lack of privacy
