Abstract (EN)

By aiming the management of natural sources and agricultural activities in Konya Closed Basin (KCB) in this project; surface temperature and drought maps have beed produces using Landsat-5 TM images for a 28-year period. Additionally, it is aimed to determine climate changes effects over the region by using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and data obtained from 10 meteorological stations and ground water levels. Twenty-nine images taken by Landsat-5 TM satellite were used as the basic data source. These raw images were taken in 1984, 1989, 1998, 2003, 2007 and 2011. Firstly, those raw images was corrected radiometric and geometrically within the scope of project. Six mosaic images were obtained by using the full-frame images of Landsat-5 TM which had been already transformed comparison each other. Then, Land Surface Temperature (LST), Temperature Vegetation Index (TVX) and Vegetation Condition Index (VCX) maps have been produced to determine the dimension of the drought. Apart from these drought's indexes, Standart Precipitation Index (SPI) has been used. The obtained results showed that surface temperature rates in the basin increased 2.00-3.00°C between 1984 and 2011. According to VCI, the effects of summer drought increases in certain period. Besides according to SPI, meteorological drought indicates itself in certain periods. In addition to these (negative) results, it seems that the most important problem is the uncontrolled use of ground water resources in the region.
