Abstract (EN)

In this study, investigation of the seasonally metal pollution of soils caused by burning of fuels for heating purposes in Kırklareli was aimed. For this purpose 43 soil samples before burning of fuels for heating purposes and 43 soil samples after burning of fuels for heating purposes in total 86 soil samples from 0-10 cm depth were taken from the locations determined in Kırklareli province. Soil samples before burning of fuels for heating purposes were collected in September 2015, and soil samples after burning of fuels for heating purposes were collected in April 2016. 5 soil samples before burning of fuels for heating purposes and 5 soil samples after burning of fuels purposes in total 10 soil samples were taken as the reference value from 50 cm depth, in order to evaluate the pollution quality and degree of pollution. Concentrations of Zn, Cu, Co, Pb, Ni, Cr, Hg, Cd metals in soil samples were determined and the pH values of the collected samples were measured. The metal concentrations found in the analysis were compared with the metal concentrations of the reference soil samples. Anthropogenic inputs of metals before and after burning of fuels for heating purposes were tried to be determined. Geoaccumulation index (Igeo) was used to evaluate the degree of metal pollution and pollution factor (Cf) was used to determine the level of metal pollution. The degree of pollution (Cd) and the modified degree of pollution (mCd) were used to determine the overall degree of pollution. In the soil samples examined, it was found that the metal average concentration values of metals before and after burning of fuels for heating purposes showed similar properties and the metal average concentration values were Zn > Cr > Ni > Cu > Co > Pb > Cd > Hg. According to the results obtained in this study, fossil fuels used for heating in houses and industry in Kırklareli province increased the accumulation of heavy metals in the soil, and the concentrations of the metals examined were not at a level that would threaten human, animal and plant health for the time being.
