Abstract (EN)
This study discusses the physical, mental and creative effects of chronic diseases on artists, the reflections of these effects on artistic production and the function of art as a therapeutic tool. When the lives of many artists are examined, it is observed that chronic diseases also transform the themes and techniques in their works. While chronic diseases sometimes limit artistic production, they can sometimes be a source of inspiration that enriches the artist's inner world. The study investigates how physical and mental difficulties transform artistic identity and the bond with society, and emphasizes the role of art in creating individual and social awareness. In this context, art is considered as a tool for expressing the difficulties of the individual and coping with these difficulties. The therapeutic effects of art are evaluated especially through artists struggling with chronic diseases. This study, which draws on disciplines such as art history, psychology and medicine, is expected to contribute to the use of art as a therapeutic tool and to increase the quality of life of individuals struggling with chronic diseases. In addition, this research, which contributes to the literature, provides an important framework that will shed light on the understanding of the relationships between art and health. The research examined the transformations that artists went through while struggling with health problems, their creative processes, and the changes observed in their works.
