Abstract (EN)
Due to its geographical location and geological structure, our country is exposed to various natural events, and these natural events turn into disasters in rural and urban areas with construction problems and major losses are experienced. Various laws and regulations are in place for the purpose of reducing and managing the losses experienced. Rural areas, which provide significant income and labor income for our country, are significantly affected by various disasters that occur. Therefore, the aim of the research is to contribute to the field by working on the effects of disasters in rural areas, reducing damage and improving recovery capacity by focusing on rural construction. In the research, the destruction experienced in rural areas, the impact on social life and the situations caused by the recovery works in the context of the earthquake natural event that had widespread effects in the rural area of Ayvacık district of Çanakkale on February 6, 2017 were examined by comparing the examples of Tuzla village and Yukarıköy. As a result of the examinations, the basic principles regarding disaster-resistant rural design that protects the rural texture and meets the daily needs of the local people were determined.
