Eastern Black Sea Region is one of the highly depopulated regions. In this study, it was aimed to characterize the reasons of migration, situation of migration trend and changes on forest existence due to migration in the Eastern Black Sea Region. Survey was carried out face to face 850 people living in 85 forest villages and people migrated to big cities. Data obtained were evaluated by using SPSS statistical packet programs.According to results, a great majority of the loandowners 83,6% currently living in the villages do not have plan to migrate after dense migration. Poverty is one of the biggest factor 98,5% depopulation of the areas. It was seen that the factors, such on being young, having high level of education, being single, having a limited land in the village and having a relatives immigrated before are accelerated the migration tendency. It was determined that migration from village causes naturel resources inactive but in the same time forest area increased 9% in the last two decades. The study also indicate that, the economic power of immigrant household heads is higher than those living in the villages and their tendency to return to their villages is very low (0,9%).The works conducted by ORKÖY and some other public institutions remain insufficent in Region. In order to keep young population in the region, new profitable sources of income should be created. For this reason, it can be conceived that more job oppurtunities can be created for the people living in the villages, and that they can play a more active role in the protection of the forests. In addition, some sources of income such as collecting non-wood forest products, and cultivating these products can be generated.Key Words: Forest Village, Forest Villagers, Rural Immigration, Tendecy to Return, Trabzon Regional Forestry Directorate.
