Detection of interventions and developing suggestions to meet today's user needs in rural housing: The case of Çamlıhemşin Konaklar neighborhood

Eastern Black Sea rural architecture is an important rural architectural heritage with its values and original features. However, the architectural texture in the rural settlements of the Eastern Black Sea Region began to disappear rapidly. The most important reasons for this situation are the disappearance of the idle houses in the settlements that have become desolate due to the migration from rural settlements to the cities, or the loss of their original characteristics due to unqualified additions and interventions. The aim of the study is to develop interventions suggestions for rural houses in Konaklar Mahallesi in Çamlıhemşin district to meet today's user needs without losing their original features. The other purpose of the study is to document and transfer the rural houses of Konaklar Mahallesi to future generations. In the first part of the study, the concepts of rural architecture, rural architectural heritage, housing, rural housing and user needs are explained in order to reveal the conceptual framework. In the second part, information about on-site detection and semi-structured interviews is given. In the third part, data obtained from on-site detection studies and interviews with residential users are presented. In this context, descriptive analyzes of the settlement-related texture analysis maps, the inventory receipts of the houses, the analyzes of the interventions made in the houses and the interviews with the house users are included. In the fourth chapter, the results of the study are presented. In the fifth chapter, interventions suggestions for meeting the user needs of the local houses and suggestions to the researchers are presented.
