Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Together with the changing technology and economic conditions, urban areas are becoming more and more similar and chaotic. Consequently, rural dwellings are gaining importance and attracting attention, which is attributable to their authenticity, naturalness, and peacerullness. This study deals with the structures of their rural dwellings in inland towns of Artvin, an Eastern Black Sea Region province. More specifically, research is directed to examine, by the physical criteria on the charecteristics of near-abode enviroment, The variety and location of the elements of the architectural structure in each locality. Also, comparisons are made regarding the differences between the general architectural structures of the three localities. First part of this study comprises the determination of study area and sample village dwellings. Next part includes the surveys and interviews conducted in villages and then evaluations as for the possibilities of new uses of the region.
