Abstract (EN)

Brick, which has continued its existence from the past to the present and constantly revising itself with technological developments, is one of the building materials at the forefront of the construction sector. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the usability of waste marble dust from Kırşehir province Kaman region in the production of environmentally friendly bricks. Within the scope of the study, mixed brick samples were produced by substituting 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% of waste marble dust extracted from the Kaman region of Kırşehir province into clayey soil taken from Kayseri city center, which is the main material of brick. In order to determine the physical properties of the produced samples, water-saturated unit weight, porosity, water absorption (by weight), freeze-thaw effect and sulfate effect tests were carried out. In order to determine the mechanical properties, compressive strength and bending tensile strength tests were carried out. As a result of the study, with the increase in the amount of waste marble dust, a decrease was observed in the water saturated unit volume weight, while the values of porosity, water absorption (by weight), freeze-thaw effect and sulfate effect increased. In mechanical tests, it was determined that there was a decrease in compressive strength and flexural strength. In addition, it was concluded that appropriate amounts (10%) of waste marble dust substitute can improve brick properties. It is thought that the use of waste marble dust in the brick industry is an effective way to solve the waste problem.
