Determination of yield and yield components of different safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) cultivars and genotypes in Kırşehir ecological conditions

Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted in Kırşehir ecological conditions in 2022, 7 safflower varieties (Dinçer, Safir, Olein, Askon 42, Göktürk, Olas and Balcı) and 8 indroduction safflower materials (Ciano Oleika, L.C.P-90, CART-83, PI 304593, PI 306924, PI 525458, PI 251984 and PI 283772) were used to determinate yield and yield parameters. The research is carried out in the experimental field of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University Faculty of Agriculture according to the randomized block trial design with 3 replications. In the research, emergence time (day), duration in the rosette (day), flowering time (day), maturation time (day), plant height (cm), number of side branches (number/plant), number of tables per plant (number/plant), main table diameter (mm), number of seeds in the main table (number), thousand seed weight (g), inner-shell ratio (%), plant seed yield (g), seed yield (kg-da), crude oil ratio (%) and crude oil yield (kg/da) were examined. According to phenological results, emergence time, rosette duriation time, flowering time and maturation time of safflower were varied between 28-30 days, 20.33-24 days, 113.3-119 days, 148-152 days, respectively. In addition, important yield parameters in the research are plant height, number of side branches, number of table, main table diameter, number of seeds in the main table, thousanda seed weight, hull-seed ratio, plant yield, seed yield, crude oil ratio and crude oil yield, changes were determined as, 51.73-68.57 cm, 2.6-3.46 pieces/plant, 3.6-5.167 pieces/plant, 19.07-23.33 mm, 22.57-32.73 pieces, 28.10-48.96 g, 39.37-50.47%, 8.59-13.81 g, 124-159.9 kg/da, 30.80-39.77% and 41.37-60.17 kg/da respectively. While the highest seed yield was found to be 159.90 kg/da in the Safir cultivar, the highest crude oil yield was obtained from the Balcı variety with 60.17 kg/da.
