Determination of weed species, densities and frequency ofoccurrence in sunflower production areas of Kırşehir province

Abstract (EN)

In this study conducted to determine the species, densities and frequency of occurrence of weeds in sunflower production areas of Kırşehir province, surveys were carried out in 2023-2024 production seasons. A total of 77 production areas were surveyed in 7 districts of Kışehir province (1 center, 6 districts) in two different production seasons. As a result of the surveys, 70 weed species belonging to 26 different families were identified. In 2023, plant density per unit area was determined as Heliotropium europaeum L. (2.60 plants/m2), Centaurea depressa L. (1.97 plants/m2), Chenopodium album L. (1.83 plants/m2), Sinapis arvensis L. (1.22 plants/m2), Convolvulus arvensis L. (0.56 plants/m2) and these weed species were determined as the most dominant species. According to 2024 survey results; Chenopodium album L. (3.02 plants/m2), Heliotropium europaeum L. (1.87 plants/m2), Centaurea depressa L. (1.56 plants/m2), Sinapis arvensis L. (1.31 plants/m2), Convolvulus arvensis L. (1.01 plants/m2) were the most dominant weed species. When the frequency of weeds was evaluated together; Convolvulus arvensis L. (72.97%), Chenopodium album L. (70.27%), Heliotropium europaeum L. (52.94%), Amaranthus retroflexus L. (45.94%), Sinapis arvensis L. (40. 54%), while Chenopodium album L. (77.5%), Convolvulus arvensis L. (70%), Sinapis arvensis L. (57.5%), Heliotropium europaeum L. (42.5%), Centaurea depressa L. (37.5%) were determined as the most common weed species in the 2024 production season.
