The effects of oat and hairy vetch mixture ratios on hay yield and quality in Kirsehir conditions

This research is conducted in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture of Ahi Evran University under the ecological conditions of Kirsehir. Two oat (Avena sativa L.) varieties (Yeniçeri and Seydişehir) and a hairy vetch variety (Vicia villosa Roth.) (Seğmen) were grown with 6 different mixture ratios (0-100, 20-80, 40-60, 60-40, 80-20, 100-0 oats:vetch). The trial was established in a two factorial randomized block design with three replications. The observed values recorded were 37.53-76,10 cm for plant heights, 941-1882 kg/da for green herbage yield, 218-560 kg/da for dry matter yield. Crude protein ratio, acid detergent fiber (ADF), acid detergent lignin (ADL) and digestible dry matter content ranged between 10.7-21.3 %, 24.47-28.88 %, 4.42-6.18 % and 66.41-69.91 %, respectively. Digestible dry matter yield changed from 145.27 to 392.67 kg/da, while relative humidity were between 128.0 and 175.8. It was concluded that Seydişehir and Yeniçeri varieties were suitable for Kırşehir conditions, and the optimum mixture ratios were % 60:40 and % 80:20 oats:hairy vetch.
