Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effect of short films on the relationship between mathematics and daily life was examined. Two mathematics subjects were selected to see this effect. These are Equality and Equations, which are the subject of the seventh grade, and Pythagorean Relation, which is the subject of the eighth grade. The research which is a case study was carried out with a total of 20 students; 10 students in the seventh grade and 10 students in the eighth grade. At the beginning of the research, the worksheets prepared to measure the students' readiness were applied. Then the short films prepared by the researcher were shown to the students in the related section of the course. After the end of the course, the worksheets prepared for evaluation were distributed to the students. Finally, students are encouraged to write daily. The data of the research were collected in this way. The data of the research using qualitative methods were analyzed by content analysis method. At the end of the research, it was seen that short films had important contributions in relation to mathematics in daily life. Short films were also found to be effective in gaining the course gains. It is recommended that short films that are effective in learning the place of mathematics subjects in daily life should be used effectively in mathematics lessons.
