Abstract (EN)

Small and medium sized enterprises (SME's) have an important place on the economic agenda of the developed or developing countries and they have continued their existence in every phase of the development process of the industry. Small and medium enterprises have undertaken important social and economic functions in Turkey. Unfortunately, the role of small scale establishments could not be over emphasised in today's economic and social development of the country. They have a lot of difficulties. The main cause of choosing this topic is, mentioning that the small and medium sized businesses in Turkey play a significant role to create employment and value added, and this role will increase with participation to European Custom Union. Because of the fact that general specialization, conceptual analysis, profiles in different countries and place and importance in Turkish economy of this businesses were investigated in Section one. In Section two, the causes that make the small and medium sized businesses unsuccessful were mentioned, and the problems about managing functions, domestic markets and exporting were underlined. And in Section three, the results of a survey that is about this businesses' problems were interpreted. Finally, in general evaluation section, the solution proposals that were found out in the way of survey results were presented. X
