Investigation of the relationship between lifelong learning and communication skills in the context of culture and arts management (Social studies teachers sample)

The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between lifelong learning and communication skills through a sample of social studies teachers in the context of culture and arts management. 401 social studies teachers working in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education throughout Turkey participated in the study in which the relational survey model was used. Data were collected with the "Lifelong Learning Scale", "Communication Skills Scale" and demographic information form. As a result of the analyses, it was found that both communication skills and lifelong learning levels of teachers were generally positive. It was determined that communication skills differed according to age; lifelong learning levels showed significant differences according to gender, marital status, education level and age. A very strong and significant positive relationship (r=0.708) was found between the two variables. In addition, it was seen that communication skills significantly predicted the lifelong learning level (β=0.708) and explained 50% of the variance. The findings show that developing teachers' communication skills can also positively support lifelong learning tendencies.
