Abstract (EN)

The access of the internet infrastructure to all parts of the world and the developments in mobile technology and software have enabled the emergence and use of new digital technologies in many areas from engineering to banking. In the field of tourism, these digital technologies have started to be offered to the service of their guests and used effectively. Robot hotel where artificial intelligence and robots are used, virtual museums, augmented reality and virtual reality applications made for tourism purposes, 360 degree videos, QR code applications are some of them. With this research, the use of augmented and virtual reality in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage has been examined. It has been examined which studies are carried out in our country, what kind of contributions virtual reality technologies will provide to the protection and promotion of cultural heritage properties, what kind of effects they will provide on the travel motivation of the visitors, what the effects are on the visitor's experiences and what are the problems encountered during the application process. As a result of the research, it was determined that AR and VR technologies in our country are applied especially in museums, are effective in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage, eliminate time and space limitations in terms of accessibility, affect the motivations of visitors mostly positively, visitors are welcomed with interest, especially the new generation shows interest in virtual reality technologies. The biggest problem encountered in the implementation process is the budget.
