Abstract (EN)

In present study, the synthesis, characterization and thermal properties of a novel coumarin cyclic polymer poly(3-benzoyl coumarin-7-yl-methacrylate) polymer – montmorillonite based nanocomposites were performed. At the characterizations of the synthesized compounds and nanomaterials, FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, XRD, DSC and TGA techniques were used. It was determined from XRD measurements that the morphologies of nanocomposites were shifted from exfoliated form to intercalated form when the clay ratio in the coumarin polymer matrix was increased from 1% to 5% level. From DSC analysis, a partial increasing at the glass transition temperatures of nanocompounds was observed related to clay ratios. At the TGA thermograms of nanocomposites, the thermal decomposition temperatures corresponding 5% weight loss were determined to be 321.37 oC for homopolymer and to be 330.36 oC, 338.71 oC and 337.72 oC for the nanocomposites of 1%, 3% and 5% clay contents, respectively. From obtained results, a positive correlation was observed between the clay loading and thermal stability in the polymer matrix and also, the increasing of decomposition temperatures of nanocomposites was recorded as 9-17 oC according to homopolymer
