Spiritual support services for adults at Quran courses

Quran Courses by their education system, which is appropriate to the essence of religion, focus on teaching and living the religion correctly, giving meaning to life and acquiring spiritual values. Quran Courses which are institutions for teaching religion in the field of non- formal education satisfy the need of adult women for right and appropriate religious knowledge. They also help the students to acquire the ideas and behaviors that increase their productivity and performance. This study explores the roles of Quran Courses in the field of spiritual support services. Also, it clarifies the religious education in Quran Courses, which operate under the management of Presidency of Religious Affairs which is a public establishment related to the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, that encompasses the life of adult women and their role in family and society in the context of spiritual support services. After conducting research interviews with adult women attending a Quran Course in Kayışdağı Central Mosque and a Quran Course in Mimar Sinan Mosque at the city of Istanbul, it was concluded that adult women students had satisfied there spiritual needs by attending these courses. It was clear from the interviews with the instructors and adult women students in the Quran Courses that Quran Courses had contributed to solving the students' religious, psychological and social problems by the education system applied in these establishments and gathering students in one place. In this sense, functionlizing Quran Courses more would have big effects on spiritual support services which are part and parcel of these establishments.
