The flora of the Zoni plateau located in Bartin, Kure Mountains National Park and surroundings

The study titled "The Flora of the Zoni Plateau located in Bartın, Küre Mountains National Park and surroundings" was carried out in 2015-2017. Küre Mountains National Park, located in the Western Black Sea region and in Bartın and Kastamonu provinces, has been declared a National Park on 07.07.2000 and has been under protection since. The national park covers an area of 37,753 hectars with a buffer zone of 134,366 hectars. The national park and its buffer zone is significant to both Turkey and the world as the best wild life specimens of "Black Sea Humid Karstic Forest" ecosystems under threat are found in the region, and is one of the 100 forest hot spots of Europe. The park is located inside the "North Anatolia and Caucasia Temperate Zone Forests" one of the 200 globally top priority ecological regions classified by World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF). The area studies is between 550 m and 900 m above sea level. It is located in Euksin section of Europe-Siberia Floristic Zone and on square A4 according to grid squaring system of Turkish flora. This area is approximately 4 hectars. Thirteen field surverys were made in two vegetation seasons between 2015-2017 and 256 plant specimens were collected. 247 taxons belonging to 181 species and 67 families have been identified. 46,34 % of these taxons is the element of Euro-Siberian, 7,72 % is of Mediterranean and 1,22 % is of Irano-Turanian. Accordingly from the perspective of phytogeography the field of study is under the influence of Euxine sub floristic region pertaining to Euro-Siberina Floristic region.
