Rhythmical and tonal analysis of the zeybek melodies accompanied zeybek dance in Kütahya central

In this thesis study, the rhythmical and tonal analiysis of the zeybek melodies accompanied zeybek dance in Kütahya central were examined in detail. In the first chapter, the research area is introduced and general information about Kütahya province is given. In the second chapter; firstly, the concept of "Being a Zeybek" and its formation in the historical process is mentioned, and the basic concepts, historical origins and cultural importance of the Zeybek tradition are emphasized. Subsequently, information about the zeybek tradition in Kütahya province, zeybek dances performed, zeybek melodies accompanying these dances and the instruments used in the region are given. In the third chapter, how "The Institution of Ahilik ", which has an important place in Turkish culture, and the "gezek" culture formed within this institution effected on zeybek music and culture in Kütahya province are mentioned. In addition, in this chapter, "Mevlevism" culture, which has a great importance in the historical development of Kütahya province, and the effects of the Sufi structure of this culture on the social, cultural and musical structure of the region are emphasized. In the fourth and final chapter, the musical structure, rhythmic and maqam characteristics of zeybek folk songs with accompaniment performed in Central Kütahya are examined in detail, and information is given about the characteristics of the instruments accompanying these melodies. In addition, the musical roles of women in the region are emphasized and their contributions to zeybek dances and melodies are discussed.
