Determination of shoreline change by satellite images: Sinop province sample

Abstract (EN)

In this study, by integrating Geographical Information Systems (GIS) approach to Remote Sensing change detection methods, it was aimed to determine effectively the changes that occurred in the shoreline and coastline of Sinop province by using satellite images with different resolutions, images obtained by Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and numerical data obtained from the current map at different times. Using the 2004 high resolution Quickbird satellite imagery, the 2007 Current Map and the 2014 high resolution Pleiades satellite imagery, the digitized coastlines were compared with the GIS approach. Changes in the shoreline have been determined and It has been determined that the land has increased toward the sea.By using high resolution satellite imagery for 2004 and 2014, Maximum Likelihood, Neural Networks and Support Vector Machines were compared in the controlled classification methods with the same classification rules.As a result of the accuracy analysis, DVM method was found to be the most accurate classification and determination of change with land use was done with this method. Orthophoto production with unmanned aerial vehicle and GIS integration; by comparison with shoreline for 2004, 2007 and 2014, photogrammetric evaluation result the image obtained with the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle of 2017 and Image processing results obtained from the Landsat satellite image of the shoreline in 2017, has designated changes occurring in three separate time intervals. This change covers only 3 km long coast. Change the result of the determination, according to the image obtained with the satellite image UAV, it has been determined that the land more than towards the sea moves.
