Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Many methods have been used for protecting coastal damage and for the reformation of beaches. It is the artificial nourishment which is the most important among the other methods used in terms of many reason. Particularly, not ceasing the relationship with the coast. It is esthetically more suitable than the other coastal construction. As nourishment can be made alone, they can be also made with many other coastal construction, submerged breakwaters are preferred to the groins and off-shore breakwaters for being apparent from surface of sea and not damaging the esthetic appearance. In this study, A model of a beach been formed by artificial nourishment and submerged off-shore breakwaters. The effect of the parameters on protecting of coast and formation of beach have been examined. In the experiments, the wave parameters and the properties of the sediments of the Eastern Black Sea Region have been used. In the first chapter, the aim and the content of the study, and the literature are given. General information concerning the study is also presented. In second chapter, the model basins in which the research has been carried out are examined. In third chapter, the results obtained from experiments are examined. In fourth chapter, the results of the experiments are examined. In fifth chapter, the results obtained from the study are presented. Finally, in the sixth chapter, the suggestion are given. Key words: Artificial Nourishment, Shore Protection, Sediment Transport, Submerged Breakwaters, Wave Mechanics, Nourishment Volume Rate
