Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY Determination of Bar Parameters Caused by Cross-Shore Sediment Movement In order to understand the features of coastal zone and to utilize the costal areas, it is necessary to determine the sediment movement and the resulting transport. Waves, topographic features and matemi parameters are the most important fectors to affect the sediment movement and coastal profiles. In this study, by taking in the consideration of wave height and period, bed slope and sediment diameter, cross-shore sediment movement was studied in a physical model and various bar parameters of the resultant erosion type profile were determined. Various kinds of dimensional and non-dimensional equations were obtained by regression analyses in which the experimental results were used. The experimental results were also evaluated by using neural networks and the related bar parameters were determined. The study comprises seven chapters and appendices. In the first chapter, general knowledge about wave mechanics, sediment transport and neural networks as well as a general literature review are presented. In the second chapter, the performed studies are given. In the third chapter, the experimental results and dimensional, non-dimensional equations and neural networks, which were obtained from resulting data of physical model studies, are presented. In the fourth chapter, the dimensional, non-dimensional and literature equations as well as neural networks results are evaluated. In the fifth and sixth chapter, the conclusions and recommendations of the study are given, respectively. In the seventh chapter, references are given. In the appendices, the results of regression analysis of the distance between coastline and equilibrium point as well as the experimental results and dimensional, non-dimensional and literature equation results of all parameters are presented. It was concluded that the results of the dimensional, non-dimensional equations and neural networks were better than those of cited in equations literature. It was also concluded that the results of neural networks were better than those of dimensional and non-dimensional equations.
