Abstract (EN)

This study, Kızılcahamam surface water resources are evaluated from heavy metal pollution. Kurtboğazı Barrage, Eğrekkaya Barrage and Akyar Barrage, which are located within the boundaries of the province, are a significant part of Ankara's water needs. The main rivers feeding these barrages within the district borders represent the surface waters of the village within the scope of the study. 10 pieces sampling points are identified for sample analysis and analyses of these samples taken from these points were carried out in May 2016 and October 2016, covering the rainy and dry season. Water samples were taken from Mera River, Pazar River, Sev (Hamam) River, Bulak River and Kirmir River locates in the area at dry and rainy period and physical – chemical water quality analyses, Total Carbon (TC), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Total Nitrogen (TN), hardness, pH, electric conductivity (EC), salinity analyses were carried out from these samples. For determining water quality parameters at these samples, some heavy metals (Al, As, B, Ba, Be, Cu, Mn, Fe, Li, Sr, Zn) are found except for the main ions in the water were compared with the maximum values in the classification values defined at TS 266 Water - Intended for Human Consumption (2005) standard. According to the analytical values, the order of the ions is Ca, Na, K, Mg, and B and the ion changes are not obvious. In the rainy season, the As value was above the arsenic limit values of raw water and was measured above 10 ppm. It is believed that the high values of Al, As, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg and Se in the ending water resources are transferred to the water resources by natural means; the mountainous structure and geothermal resources of Kızılcahamam volcanic rocks are in the region and because of more contact between water masses and rocks at the region, heavy metal values increased at rainy season and decreased at dry season.
