Grammatical index of Leyla Hanım Divans

Leyla Hanım who devoted her all life to literature was a XIX. century female poet who fond of jokes and humor. During her lifetime, the poet's dirges and songs were read with pleasure. Although she did not bring a new utterance to Dewan poems, she owes her place in our literature foe being a female poet. It is also mentioned in sources that she sometimes had written Persian poems. XIX. century is the period that begins with the emergence of a new literary approach. This new approach emerged the duality of old-new in social life in literature, which caused slow progress of changes in literature. The purpose of this work is to reveal the vocabulary of Leyla Hanım Dewan which was written according to tradition of XIX. century Ottoman Dewan literature. In addition, it was aimed to give an idea to readers about the state and frequency of use of inflection suffixes which were used in XIX. century in Anatolian region. In this study, the grammatical index of Leyla Hanım was done. First, the poems which are classified according to Dewan types were given numbers and poetry couplets were also numbered in themselves. Afterwards, words in Dewan (literature) were scanned; both nominative and inflection suffix forms of those words were alphabetically listed with poems and couplets' code numbers. At this stage, words' nominative form was shown with poems and couplets' code numbers as per article; same words' inflection suffix form was given again with poems and couplets' code numbers as per article. However, there are Persian poems in Dewan. (For that reason), those poems were not included in the study. With this work, both the presence of Leyla Hanım's vocabularies which were written during XIX. century Ottoman region according to the tradition of Dewan literature are revealed and the morphological characteristics of Turkish in that period are given with examples.
