Abstract (EN)
There are earthquakes almost everywhere in the world. Some of these cause loss of life. In order to prevent this, safe and economic solutions should be produced to prevent them. For this, in addition to various properties of soils, it is necessary to improve their mechanical properties. Today, one of the most common methods is adding various materials to different soils, mixing them and trying to improve the soil. These different materials usually contain binders and fibers. The aim of these studies is to investigate the dynamic properties of sandy soils stabilized with bitumen and fibers under dynamic loads such as earthquakes. In this context, in this study, it has been stabilized with sand and bitumen with high damping rates and various fibers (basalt, polypropylene and cellulose fiber) to improve the dynamic properties of the soils. Samples were produced with these materials mixed in various percentages. Then, cyclic simple shear test was applied. It was aimed to compare the dynamic properties of polypropylene fiber, basalt fiber and cellulose fiber in different ratios obtained from this experiment and find out which one gives the best results. Within the scope of the experimental study, 3% of the bitumen rate was determined as the highest damping for cellulose fiber, and this damping rate was 45%. The fiber up to 1% of the bitumen ratio gives the highest damping rate for polypropylene fiber and this was found to be 44.6%. The highest damping rate was found as 47% in the basalt fiber sample. In addition, the highest shear modulus was obtained from the basalt fiber mixture as 11.8 Mpa.
