Abstract (EN)

One of the building types most affected by earthquakes is masonry structures. At the same time, since masonry structures constitute a large part of the building stocks, it is important to determine the dynamic behavior of these structures. Undoubtedly, earthquakes are the most damaging of natural disasters. The destructive earthquakes that have been experienced from the past to the present reveal the necessity of taking precautions today and in the future. For this reason, determining the dynamic behavior of the existing structure is extremely important in determining the measures to be taken and strengthening techniques. The aim of this study is to evaluate the seismic performance of semi-scale masonry structures built with different masonry units, taking into account different damage situations. The shaking table test was carried out with different loading conditions. Incremental seismic excitations were applied to the structure to obtain different damage states. After each loading, damage cases and related damage patterns were examined comparatively. In order to observe the damage experimentally, modal parameters were defined for the undamaged and damaged conditions of the structure as a result of the ambient vibration tests performed before and after seismic loads. Obtained experimental results were compared in simulations made in numerical software and similar results were obtained. Within the scope of this study, the results of the strengthening study with CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) for the damaged brick model are also given.
