Logistics cost management and profitability relations: General directorate of tea enterprises (ÇAYKUR) on application

With globalization, the companies have become consumer oriented rather than product-oriented in the planning activities. In the heavy competitive atmosphere, delivering the exact good to the exact location on the exact time in the most efficient and productive way brings the large competitive advantage for the companies. Thus, at this point, the concept of logistic gains importance. In the internationally accepted definition, logistic is defined as the activities that plan, implement, and control the storage and delivery of materials, services and information that are in the supply chain spreading from the start point of the raw materials to the final point where products are consumed through both sides in the efficient way to meet the need of consumers. Tea industry takes an important place both in the global and Turkish economy because the tea plant is valuable in economic and cultural aspects. The main purpose target of this study is intended to provide the most efficient use of logistic in tea industry. It is aimed to reduce the costs of business by using logistic more efficiently and to contribute to increase in the competitiveness of this business with market. For these purposes, in this thesis, a general evaluation is done about tea industry statistically. In addition, more resources allocation is encouraged for saving of logistic costs of business management with increased business profit by decreasing logistic cost without compromising product quality of business.
