The validity and reliability of Turkish version of Luebeck questionnaire

Özet (EN)

The purpose of this research is examine the validity and reliability of Turkish version of Luebeck Questionnaire (Recording Preoperational Thinking), developed by Kühnen and his friends. The basic use of this questionnaire aims to the patienten be diagnosed with the mental disorder to consider in regard of the cognitive development and especially to determine pre-operational thinking factors. In literature, especially regarding cognitive psychology, this method is defined as an important factor to understand the contents of thoughts in pathology and to include in therapy. Therefore, to examine pre-operational thinking, which is one thoughts' form, in different pathologic areas is accepted as important. The research has been conducted with 33 healthy people without a mental disorder and 60 people with different mental disorder, who have a diagnosis. Sosyodemographic İnformation Form, The Structed Clinical İnterview for DSM-IV Axis I Disorders (SCID-I) Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale and Luebeck Questionnaire, which recording preoperational thinking were used as data collection tools in this research. The Cronbach's alpha was found as α= 0,887 and split-half was found as 0,902 for the reliability of the Luebeck. İtem-total correlation coefficients of the Turkish Form of Luebeck ranged from 0,189 to 0,705. According to the results of item analysis, all items had a high discrimination index value. Criterion validity and construct validity methods were used to calculate the validity of the Luebeck inventory. There was a statistically significant correlation (p<0,001) between Luebeck and Dysfunctional Attitude Scale (DAS – which was used for the criterion validity). According to the results of construct validity analysis, there was a significant difference between control group and experimental group. The psychometric properties of the Turkish Form of Luebeck Questionnaire was found at acceptable level at the end of the study and results of analysis showed that the Turkish Form of Luebeck Questionnaire is a valid and reliable measurement that could be used as a tool for measuring the pre-operational thinking factors of substance abuse, mood, anxiety and somatoform disorder.
