Comparison of emotional and aggressive attitudes of 14 - 17 year old adolescents with and without substance addiction

During adolescence, people feel a sense of disability when they do not solve their problems. Some of those who can not get rid of the anxiety worry behave aggressively; While others are trying to transcend this process with cigarette, alcohol or drug addiction. Typical behavioral disturbances of substance-using adolescents include aggression. In this study, the empathy tendency and addiction effect on aggression behavior of adolescents were investigated. It is aimed to show the effect of this addiction by comparing the tendency of empathy and aggression scores of dependent and non-dependent adolescent groups. The study was carried out on 50 addicted patients aged 14-17 years who stayed in a dependency center between July and September 2016 for 3 months and 50 healthy participants aged 14-17 years who did not have any addiction treatment and the questionnaire form consisting of Empathic Trends Scale and Aggression Scale It was performed. According to the findings obtained from the research; The tendency of empathy for non-dependent participants is significantly higher than for dependent participants. The physical aggression and hostility of the dependent participants were significantly higher than the non-dependent participants; Verbal aggression, anger and indirect aggression. There is a significant relationship between physical aggression, verbal aggression, anger, hostility and indirect aggression and empathy tendency in the dependent group. These relations are all inverse and generally weak. There is a significant relationship between anger and empathy tendency in the non-dependent group. This relationship is weak and negative. On the other hand; Physical aggression, verbal aggression, hostility, and indirect aggression and empathy tendency.
