Abstract (EN)

Sedmentary and Petrographic features of tha Eosen Sandatones of the Maden (Bayburt) region and their depositional environment. The Eocen sequence, in the Maden (Bayburt) area, is composed of sandstone, claystone and mam transported and deposited by turbiditic flows. The sandstone of sequence are usually reddish brown in colour, medium to badly sorted and of varying thickness. Flute (marks), load (marks) and rill (marks) and gradation are observed sedimantological features. All of the examined sandstone are lithic wake stone but are not mineralogically and texturally mature. Marns the clay mineral paragenensis of which is ////'/, chlorit and smectite plot in ancymetamorphism-diagenesis zone and are reasonably mature. The constitent of sandstones were probably derived from reefal limestons and ophiolitic melange to the northeast of the basin. Besides, recycled obduction collision, recycled lithic fragment. Polycristalin quartz composing the sandstones is of a thrust orgin, whilst monocristaline quartz of continental block. Keywords: Sedimentary petrography, sandstone, Eocen turbidites. VI
