Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the pulse frequency fluctuations of magnetars and six selected persis- tent accreting powered pulsars (PAPPs) are presented. Using the data from RXTE, XMM-Newton, Chandra, Swift and FERMI observatories, the timing noise behavior of individual sources on various timescales are examined, depending on the data sampling rate of input frequency measurements. The timing noise amplitudes are analyzed via two separate methods, namely ∆8 and r.m.s methods. The timing noise characteristics of both magnetars and PAPPs are investigated together with a sample of 366 radio pulsars obtained from literature. The relations of timing noise behavior with the physical quantities are examined with an aim of exploring the origin of the noise process in different source samples. The focus of the study is to understand the timing noise behavior of magnetars and accretion powered pulsars. The results show that there is a connection between timing noise behavior of magnetars and radio pulsars, in fact they form a continuum. Furthermore, the timing noise in magnetars do not exhibit footprints of accretion. On the other hand, PAPs display a rather distinctive timing behavior that is induced by inhomogeneities in the accretion flow. Hence, the results of this study suggests that timing noise of magnetars originate from the extreme magnetic field strengths and outburst activities.
