Abstract (EN)

Crime is a phenomenon that concerns the legal order, psychology, sociology, and various branches of science. Many factors cause criminal behavior. Psychological, sociological, biological, etc. In this study, the relations between attitudes towards crime, compassion, and revenge are discussed in various aspects to understand criminal behavior. Revenge is the thought of taking revenge on another for the injustice suffered by the person. Compassion is the effort put forth to relieve another's distress. Examining the relationships between criminal behavior, compassion, and revenge helps us to plan rehabilitation programs effectively. The research was conducted with 200 prisoners (131 Men, 69 Women), and 209 university students (49 Men, 131 Women), a total of 409 participants. Parametric analyzes were used because the data showed a normal distribution. A moderately significant relationship was found between compassion and revenge, a moderately significant relationship between attitudes toward revenge and crime, and a low-level relationship between attitudes toward compassion and crime. Attitudes towards crime and revenge scores have a significant difference according to the gender variable. When attitudes towards crime were analyzed according to education level, a significant difference was found between group scores. Society has negative thoughts toward prisoners. This negative perception creates negativity for individuals who have not been able to adapt to the legal order for the prisoners to be reintegrated into society. Social peace needs to reintegrate the prisoners who had difficulties adapting to the legal order in the past. One of the main purposes of the law of execution of penalties is the correction of prisoners. In this context, preventing prisoners from committing crimes again will create many advantages for both the prisoners and society. An effective rehabilitation program will create an effective penal execution system. In addition, the execution law regime must succeed in preserving the social order.
