Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to examine the severity of early maladaptive schemas of a group of patients diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) as a clinical sample, by comparing them with a healthy control group according to various variables. Between 20 January 2021 and 28 February 2021, Adana Dr. The study was carried out with 100 patients who applied to the Ekrem Tok Mental Health and Diseases Hospital Psychiatry outpatient clinic and whose primary diagnosis was MDD according to DSM-V, selected by simple random sampling method, and 50 healthy controls with similar sociodemographic characteristics. Sociodemographic and Clinical Data Form, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Suicidal Ideation Scale (SIS), and Young Schema Scale Short Form-3 (YSS-SF-3) were administered to the participants, respectively. The obtained data were evaluated with the SPSS Verslon 21.00 Windows package program. The mean BDI total scale score of patients with MDD was found to be significantly higher than the mean scores of healthy individuals (p=0.001). Likewise, the mean score of all subscales of YSS-SF-3 was found to be significantly higher in patients with MDD compared to healthy individuals (p=0.001). Emotional deprivation, failure, pessimism, social isolation/insecurity, suppression of emotions, nesting/dependence, privilege/insufficient self-control, self-sacrifice, abandonment, punishment, imperfection, emotional deprivation, failure, pessimism, social isolation/insecurity, sub-dimensions of BDI score average of MDD patients and YSS-SF-3. It was found that there were positive and significant relationships between the mean scores of vulnerability to diseases/threats and high standards scale (r=.50; p<0.01; r=.58; p<0.01; r=.55; p<0.01; r=.63) ; p<0.01; r=.54; p<0.01; r=.51; p<0.01; r=.32; p<0.01; r=.34; p<0.01; r=.45; p<0.01; r=.42; p<0.01; r=.5572; p<0.01; r=.44; p<0.01; r=.21; p<0.05). Similarly, it was found that there were positive and significant correlations between the mean BDI score of MDD patients and the mean scores of the injured autonomy, disconnection, other-directedness, and injured boundaries scales from the LAS-SF-3 schema domains (r=.65; p<0.01; r=.75; p<0.01; r=.44; p<0.01; r=.32; p<0.01). Finally, it was found that MDD patients who had attempted suicide had a significantly higher YSS-SF-3score than MDD patients who had not attempted suicide (p=0.001). The mean BDI score of the individuals participating in the study (31.24) shows that the patients have a significant depressive mood. As the depressive symptom level increases, the activation of the schemas also increases. These results were found to be compatible with the results of many studies in the literature.
