Reasons for swimming individuals in malatya to choose swimming, their future expectations and hopes

The aim of this research is to examine the reasons why swimming individuals prefer swimming, their future expectations and hopes. 200 male and female swimming athletes between the ages of 10-13 from Malatya participated in this research. Two different measurement tools were used in this research. Firstly, with a survey form, the reasons why swimming athletes started swimming, their reasons for engaging in swimming and their expectations from swimming were examined with variables according to gender, financial income level and number of siblings. Secondly, the trait hope scale was applied. In the permanent hope scale, the Alternative Ways Thought and Activist Thought sub-dimensions were examined with variables according to gender, financial income level and number of siblings. A total of 200 swimming athletes, 103 women and 97 men, were reached. In the analysis of the data, the normality test of descriptive statistics was performed, and a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test was applied to compare the means of two independent groups to understand that the data were normally distributed. In the study, the significance level was accepted as p<0.05. As a result of our study, it was found that there was a positive relationship between the reasons why individuals without siblings started swimming compared to those with siblings. There was no positive or negative relationship between gender and income level. Swimmers' hopes were examined with variables according to gender, financial income level and number of siblings, and no positive or negative results were found.
