Investigation of mathematics teacher's case of creating similar triangle with drawings and using pantographs

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the drawings related to Similarity in Triangles and pantograph usage situations of Primary Mathematics Teacher Candidates (IMÖA). In this study, designed with the qualitative research method, the case study pattern was used. It is an approach that explores the subject, event and phenomenon of the research in depth in its own case using many data sources. in the 2021-2022 academic term, the elementary mathematics teaching program consists of 12 teacher candidates who are studying in the last grade. It was determined by using the purposeful random sampling method in the selection of the study group. Purposeful random sampling is the purposeful classification of systematic and randomly selected case samples in accordance with the purpose of the research. In this study, voice recordings, statements and drawings in working papers, self-assessment forms were used to collect data. The activities and working papers that the candidates will do have been created as a result of the opinions of the researcher and the thesis advisor. The process applied within the scope of the study consists of two stages. The first stage is the implementation of basic drawing activities. The second stage consists of pantograph usage activities. In the data analysis, each drawing made by the teacher candidates was examined individually with the help of geogebra. As a result of this examination, it was found that the participants were quite successful in the tasks involving triangle drawings in the study, but the most important element of activity-based teaching was the knowledge and skill level of the teacher. Therefore, it should be taken into account that teachers who cannot manage drawing activities well may not be able to apply this activity well, even if the activity is well prepared. For this reason, emphasis should be placed on teachers being able to create different activities and tasks for students to learn the subject better.
